BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) - The American Hockey League officially canceled the rest of the 2020 regular season and playoffs on Monday.
The minor league is one level below the National Hockey League and includes the Binghamton Devils.
“The Binghamton Devils fully support the decision made by the American Hockey League to cancel the rest of the 2019-20 season," team officials said in a statement. "The health and safety of our fans, players, partners, and staff are the top priority."
The season was postponed nearly two months ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Devils end the season 34-24-4-0 and in fourth place in the AHL's North Division, which would have been good for a playoff spot had the postseason been played.
