ENFIELD, NY (WSKG) - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced during his daily briefing that elective surgeries can start again in twelve more counties.
Before that announcement, Congressman Tom Reed (NY-23) called elective and outpatient procedures an essential measure to keeping regions opened. Reed made the remarks during a media call.
"We have to make sure that we are working throughout the region to keep these metrics in position for both economic recovery as well as those outpatient services that are critical to the future viability of our hospital networks," Reed said.
The 12 new counties announced today include Chemung, Cortland, Cayuga and Otsego. Hospitals in other Southern Tier counties were already allowed to restart elective procedures.
