TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY (WSKG) - A routine audit by the State Comptroller has led to another former Delhi official being charged with larceny.
The charges filed today allege that former Deputy Highway Superintendent Brian Rosenthal falsely claimed sick and annual leave time he did not earn over a four-year period from 2015-2019.
The Comptroller's audit initial findings were followed up with a joint investigation by Delaware County District Attorney John Hubbard, the Comptroller's office and New York State Police.
The investigation led to Rosenthal being charged with third-degree grand larceny for misstating his sick and annual leave time. The false claims amounted to 272 hours of sick and leave time, equivalent to over $6,000.
The charges carry possible punishment of 2-7 years in state prison. Other options may include probation or a year in county jail.
Delhi is a village of about 2,500 people located 20 miles southeast of Oneonta in Delaware County.
