TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY (WSKG) - The Associated Press has called the New York Assembly race in the 125th district for Democrat Anna Kelles.
The district includes all of Tompkins County and part of Cortland County.
Kelles ran against Matthew McIntyre, a Libertarian from Cortland County. Kelles won with 64 percent of the vote over McIntyre’s 36 percent.
Democrats have represented the district for more than 40 years.
Kelles has been a Tompkins County legislator since 2015. She won a primary against seven candidates in June.
She will assume the seat vacated by Barbara Lifton, who is retiring at the end of this year.
