Developers plan commercial, apartment space across from Binghamton stadium

City of Binghamton officials joined property developers in announcing plans for a new housing and commercial development project across from Mirabito Stadium Tuesday.

The Hudson Valley-based Kearney Group is planning to build the mixed-use development called the Stadium Lofts on Henry St., across from Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton. The four-story building will include 70 residential units and five commercial spaces.

The project fits in with the city’s stadium district master plan, which lays out objectives such as fixing streetscapes and identifying opportunities to improve housing a few blocks away from the city’s downtown. The team’s owner, David Sobotka said he’s glad to see construction across the street.

"The stadium district master plan is an exciting piece of paper. Seeing it now starting to come to life is really the exciting part of this,” Rumble Ponies owner David Sobotka said.

Ken Kearney, CEO of the Kearney Group said his company plans to designate some units in the building for artists. He said groundbreaking may begin as soon as August 2023.
