Republicans rally in Broome County ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections

New York’s Republican statewide ticket of candidates stopped in Broome County Sunday for their last rally before Election Day.

GOP candidate for governor and Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin made his final pitch to a crowd of a few hundred people in Johnson City.

Zeldin reiterated his promise to enact a state of emergency on crime and work to repeal changes to the state’s cash bail laws.

“We are going to fire Kathy Hochul,” Zeldin said. “We are going to end one-party rule. We are committed to restoring New York to glory.”

Republicans appear to be gaining momentum ahead of Tuesday’s election. Some polls suggest the race for governor may be close and Democrats in New York have been campaigning with big name power players like President Joe Biden in recent days.

Zeldin was joined by other Republican candidates on the ballot, including Joe Pinion for U.S. Senate, Marc Molinaro for the 19th Congressional District and Rich David for state Senate.
