Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-123) will return to Albany for a 10th term next year, after successfully defending her seat against Binghamton Republican City Councilwoman Sophia Resciniti in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Lupardo garnered 55 percent of the votes in her Binghamton, Endicott and Johnson City district, according to election night results posted by the state Board of Elections.
“We know this place needs all the help and all the hope that we can give it, and a lot of good is coming,” Lupardo said.
A spokesperson for Lupardo’s campaign told WSKG Rescinti did not concede the race as of early Wednesday morning.
Lupardo has served in the Assembly since 2005 and currently chairs the Agriculture Committee.
Lupardo’s win comes amid Republican victories for Congress and Sheriff in Broome County.
A spokesperson for Lupardo's campaign said Resciniti called to officially concede the race later Wednesday morning.*
