Is Supervised Injection Right For Ithaca?

You probably heard about the supervised injection site
Ithaca proposed last winter; a place where people could inject heroin more safely. Vancouver, British Columbia has had supervised injection since 2003, although it remains a political hot potato.
Crystal Sarakas spoke to John Barry of the Southern Tier AIDS Program. STAP had a handing in creating the Ithaca Plan. She also spoke to New York State Senator Tom O’Mara,
who has opposed the supervised injection site. The group started their conversation (audio below) after listening to a piece from the Vancouver site (you can hear that story if you click here).

BUFFALO, NY (WBFO) - A group of businesses, ranging from bars to a bowling alley, have filed a lawsuit against Governor Andrew Cuomo, the State Legislature and Attorney General, claiming they have been unconstitutionally harmed as the result of actions taken during the pandemic and slow reopening of the state's economy. The lawsuit, filed Friday, seeks to have the respective plaintiffs reopen and recover financial losses as the result of what they consider unfair restrictions.
ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - The vast majority of people who are diagnosed with COVID-19 have survived the disease, but a growing body of evidence is finding that survival does not guarantee a smooth recovery. “It’s not just dying that you need to be concerned about,” said Dr. Jeffrey Bruckel, a cardiologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center who has treated COVID-19 patients.
