BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) — Johnson City police are trying to narrow down a suspect and motive in the shooting of a Muslim man last weekend.

The suspect was wearing dark clothes and a dark mask, according to Police Chief Brent Dodge.

“We really don’t have any physical descriptors to release yet, unfortunately,” said Dodge. “There was someone who heard him speak and believed it to be a male voice.”

Whoever it was shot and killed Shakeel Khan in the parking lot outside the restaurant Halal Bites around 10 p.m. Saturday. Dodge says they can’t narrow down a motive yet.

He says they’re encouraging anyone with information to contact the Johnson City Police Department at 607-729-9321.
