VESTAL, NY (WSKG) – During stops Wednesday in New York’s Southern Tier, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul toured Binghamton University’s new Pharmacy School.
“I wanted to come here and just see with my own eyes the excitement here, but also realize this is just the beginning,” Hochul said. “We also had the opportunity to look out the window at former buildings that have been warehouses and empty for decades that are now going to have new life.”
Pharmacy School Dean Gloria Meredith hopes the school can help change that. “I would love to see the Village of Johnson City come back again as a really true village where you really like walking down main street,” she said. “And that’s starting to happen.”
After her stop in Johnson City, Hochul went to Elmira and Horseheads, where she toured downtown revitalization efforts and toured a manufacturing facility.
