VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — The Alcohol & Drug Council of Tompkins County plans to expand the Open Access Center in Ithaca.
The council secured nearly $6,961,000 to add a medically supervised withdrawal and residential services program.
The facility will have 40 beds. According to council, the program is the first in the county to provide 24/7 access to addiction treatment with a medically-supervised detox and stabilization unit. It’s expected to open next year.
The funding comes from the state’s Department of Health and the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
The Open Access Center opened in February. Among the services they currently offer: walk-in assessments, naloxone distribution, education and intervention.
