VESTAL, NY (WSKG)—Another bipartisan caravan of members of the House Committee on Homeland Security is bound for the Rio Grande Valley for a Friday inspection of immigrant detention camps.
Among the group is New York Representative Antonio Delgado. The Democrat represents the 19th district–which includes Delaware, Green and Otsego counties.
“I plan to use this visit as an opportunity to provide much-needed oversight and probe [Customs and Border Protection] and [Department of Health and Human Services] officials to ensure these facilities maintain the safe and sanitary conditions required by our laws,” Delgado said in a press release.
They plan to visit a Border Patrol station, a processing center, a holding facility, and a port of entry.
Republican Representative Tom Reed is also scheduled to leave Friday as part of the Problem Solvers Caucus.
Correction: An earlier version of this story listed Congressman Delgado’s first name as Anthony.
