Winter Storm Moves Across The Region; Road Closures and Travel Advisories Issued

A winter storm is moving across the region today and tomorrow, with freezing rain, sleet and heavy snow predicted for much of central New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton issues a winter storm warning, in effect until Monday evening. Widespread freezing rain is expected during the first round of the storm Sunday morning through the evening. NY511 is reporting multiple accidents on Interstate 81, 86 and the New York Thruway.

Travel advisories have been issued for Broome and Tompkins County. Binghamton University, Cornell University, Ithaca College, and Tompkins Cortland Community College have cancelled Monday classes. Check with your local school or place of employment for additional closing information.
