Pallbearers carry the casket of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Pallbearers carry the casket of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 23,2020. Ginsburg, who died at the age of 87 from pancreatic cancer, was only the second woman to be nominated to the Supreme Court. Ginsburg, who was described as “tough as nails” for incrementally taking on gender equality cases, became a feminist icon. Her death has already unleashed a nasty and tumultuous political battle over who will succeed her as it thrusts the Supreme Court vacancy into the spotlight of the presidential campaign.
