NY Senator Seward Tests Positive for COVID-19


ITHACA, NY (WSKG) – New York 51st District Senator James Seward recently tested positive for COVID-19, according to his office.

Seward was diagnosed with a mild case of the virus and is expected to have a full recovery. He’s being treated at Albany Medical Center.

His wife, Cindy, also has mild case and is in quarantine at home.

Seward, 68, announced in November that his cancer had returned and he would not be seeking re-election.

The Republican represents the sprawling 51st senate district includes Otsego and Cortland Counties, along with part of Chenango, Delaware, Tompkins and Cayuga Counties.
