VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — Oneonta City Manager George Korthauer submitted his resignation effective February 7, 2020.
“Considering the expiration of my contract in August, my leaving now will permit the Common Council, with its many new members, to appoint a City Manager of their choosing early- on,” Korthauer said in a press release. He said it's an honor to have worked for and with people dedicated to the community.
Korthauer started in August 2017. Prior to his time in Oneonta, he served as city manager in Petoskey, MI for 25 years.
Mayor Gary Herzig said in a statement that city operations have benefited from Korthauer's service, and wished him future success. Now Herzig will help the Common Council during the move to a new manager.
"We have a very dedicated and talented team of Department Heads and staff. I am certain that they will function at the highest level in providing service to the people of our city during this time of transition."
