Tuesday was election day for many voters in the Southern Tier and Catskills. Here are some of the results. This post will continue to be updated.

Primary election NY-19

With more than 60% of the vote, Josh Riley defeated Jamie Cheney in the Democratic primary for the newly redrawn 19th Congressional District.

"It's been 70 years since we sent somebody from Broome County to represent Broome County in Congress and in November that is going to change,” Riley told a crowd in Johnson City.

The new 19th District covers Tompkins, Broome, Cortland, Chenango and Delaware counties. Riley will face Republican Marc Molinaro in the November general election.

Primary election 52nd Senate District

Lea Webb beat Leslie Danks Burke by more than 20 points in the Democratic primary for New York's 52nd Senate District. Webb said she thinks many of her key priorities will resonate across the political spectrum in the general election.

"We have a lot more in common across the district than folks may realize," Webb said. "Key issues like housing, having good paying jobs that allow us to thrive, access to quality, affordable health care."

Webb will face Republican and former Binghamton Mayor Rich David in November.

Special election NY-23

Republican Joe Sempolinski won the special election for the 23rd Congressional District defeating Democrat Max Della Pia. That district includes Tompkins, Tioga, Schuyler, Chemung, Yates and Steuben counties. Sempolinski will fill out the remaining four months of the term. The seat was vacated by former Rep. Tom Reed, who resigned in May.

Special election NY-19

Democrat Pat Ryan beat Republican Marc Molinaro by a little over two points, or just under 3,000 votes, in a special election to fill out the remainder of the term in the current 19th Congressional District. The district includes the eastern part of Broome County as well as Delaware and Otsego counties.

“I can’t believe it," Ryan told reporters after claiming victory. "I’m so proud, so proud of our community. We stepped up. We stepped up when the whole country was watching. We sent a message.”

Molinaro refused to concede the race Tuesday, despite trailing by almost 3,000 votes.

Primary election NY-23

With 52% of the vote, Nick Langworthy defeated Carl Paladino in the Republican primary for the new 23rd Congressional District. That district includes Chemung, Steuben and Allegany counties.
