Josh Riley, the Democratic candidate in the 19th Congressional District race, holds a significant lead in cash on hand going into the last month of the race over his Republican opponent Marc Molinaro.
According to campaign finance disclosure reports from the Federal Elections Commission, Riley began October with just over $1.1 million on hand. ** His Republican opponent, Marc Molinaro began the month with $404,000.
Riley raised just over $1.3 million from individual contributions in the in the last two months of the third quarter of 2022. About 23 percent of those were from individuals contributing less than $200. He raised an additional $187,000 from PAC’s.
Molinaro raised about $46,000 from individual contributions in the last two weeks of the third quarter, about a quarter of which were below the $200 threshold. Additionally, Molinaro pulled in roughly $42,000 from PAC’s and other committee transfers. Molinaro’s latest figures are reported with a shorter window because he ran in a special election to fill the current 19th Congressional District seat in August.
Outside groups continue to spend heavily in the 19th Congressional District. Super PACs and other entities have spent almost $5 million on the race to-date, including funding for a multitude of ad buys and mailers. Of that $5 million, roughly $1.6 million has been spent opposing Riley and $2.2 against Molinaro.
