The Art of Science
Graphic Details, Effective Communication
Speakers: Drs. Ersan and Bolt
Jan 12, 2021 at 7pm EST
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, the ideal graphic might be worth 10,000. Because many scientific graphics are too technical for everyday people, Professor Gökhan Ersan and his students strive to close the gap. By creating detailed, substantive content that’s accessible to everyone, they’re developing a consistent, intentional graphic vocabulary for bringing science to life.
Dr. Ersan is Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University. For this talk, he will be joined by Corning Museum of Glass curatorMarvin Bolt whose knowledge fuels ongoing collaborations between academic and museum environments. Their expertise guides and inspires students as they learn to create visual expressions of diverse scientific and humanistic topics.
