Kelles has been a Tompkins County legislator since 2015.
Tuesday’s 90-minute debate was sponsored by local chapters of the League of Women Voters.
“I don’t live in a fairy tale world of this is the idea, let’s put it into practice. Well, no I’ve put it into practice and we’ve seen things that do and don’t work.”
Kelles is in a seven-way Democratic race in New York’s 125th District.
Myrick said Murtagh is the best candidate to further the interests of Ithaca, the largest city in the Assembly district.
There are now seven Democrats running for the 125th Assembly seat currently held by Barbar Lifton.
A Democrat has represented the district for over thirty years.
Harbin is the first person from Cortland County to enter the race. The other three announced candidates are all from Tompkins County.
Kelles is the third candidate to join the race for Democratic nomination.
