New Episode Of Let's Polka Features The Polka Method

The future of polka music looks to be in a good place if the Polka Method are any indication! This seven piece band features some of the youngest performers that have ever graced the Let’s Polka stage and their debut episode premieres Saturday, July 15th at 6:30 on WSKG. Led by vocalist and trumpet player Matt Martin, the group runs thru classic tracks such as “Fiddler’s Polka”, “Lucky Stop Waltz” and “Visit to Poland”. Bill Flynn hosts the program and interviews Matt about his future in the polka world!

WSKG’s locally produced Let’s Polka returns with a new episode featuring Buffalo’s Special Delivery this Saturday, May 6 at 6:30pm. This five piece outfit delighted our live studio audience and will surely get your toes-a-tapping with their performances of ‘Barbara’s Polka’, ‘Bottom’s Up Polka’ and the ‘Can’t Get Used To Losing You Polka’. The show is hosted by Bill Flynn, who also interviews band member Ted Szymanski and they discuss Buffalo’s famous Dyngus Day. The Holidays Continue for Let's Polka!

WSKG Arts isn’t quite ready to give up on the Holiday Season yet and we are proud to present two programs featuring the incomparable John Stevens’ Doubleshot. Doubleshot is based in Central Pennsylvania and have released nearly twenty albums since their formation in the mid-1990’s. The band travels all across the east coast and midwest spreading their polka cheer to adoring fans with an eclectic set list and a charismatic stage presence. In addition to playing polka classics, John has also written nearly fifty original tunes during his career. To celebrate the holiday season John has added some special tunes to each of the shows set lists.

Let's Polka Holiday Special Featuring John Stevens' Doubleshot

Let’s Polka is getting into the swing of the holiday season with a special run of performances from the amazing John Stevens’ Doubleshot! This episode features some great polka tunes including the “Goodtimes Polka”, “Snow Waltz” and an enthusiastic rendition of the “Jingle Bells Polka”. Doubleshot have been performing in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania for over twenty years and have nearly 20 polka albums to their credit. John tours all around the country and has even performed on two polka cruises during his career. His indomitable energy has won audiences over for two decades and we are excited that he has brought his band to the Let’s Polka stage to help WSKG celebrate the holiday season.

Rich Bobinski Orchestra, Show Three

Violinist June Ingram leads the Rich Bobinski Orchestra to another smashingly successful appearance on WSKG’s locally produced Let’s Polka. Our live studio audience was entertained with RBO’s eclectic set list and boundless enthusiasm. June is joined on-stage by Jim Turek (Trumpet), John Clark (Clarinet/Saxophone), Eddie Zavaski (Accordion/Vocals), Lorraine Jeski Moroch (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Eddie Biegaj (Drums/Vocals). Performances included the “Golden Gate Polka”, “The Godfather Polka” and “Down by the Water”. Hosted by Bill Flynn who interviews June about the band and her career in the polka music world.

Tony Blazonczyk's New Phase, Show Three

WSKG Arts is proud to bring in a polka band all the way from Chicago on this episode of Let’s Polka. Tony Blazonczyk and the New Phaze band once again entertain WSKG’s live studio audience with an eclectic set of polka tunes. Move aside your furniture and dance along to classics such as the “Love Em & Leave Em Polka”, “Bandleader’s Polka” and ‘Walk Through This World With Me Waltz”. Tony is joined on-stage by Tim Jagodzinski (concertina), John Fuzmaniak (accordion), Melvin Rzeszutko (drummer), CJ Lackowski (trumpet), Dan Levdanski (trumpet, clarinet, saxophone). The program is hosted by Bill Flynn, who also interviews Tony about his career and his family’s rich polka history.

RBO Takes the Let's Polka Stage!

WSKG Arts is proud to present another episode of Let’s Polka! This week features a performance from one of Connecticut’s best and brightest polka bands, The Rich Bobinski Orchestra. This six-piece band is led by violinist June Ingram and she captivated the live studio audience at the WSKG Studios with her good natured charm and inspired play. June was joined on-stage by Jim Turek (trumpet), John Clark (clarinet/saxophone), Eddie Zavaski (accordion/vocals), Lorraine Jeski Moroch (bass guitar/vocals) and Eddie Biegaj (drums/vocals). Performances include “Home at Last”, “Polka Bells”, “The Fiddler’s Polka” and Let’s Polka is hosted by Bill Flynn.

Tony Blazonczyk's New Phaze, Show Two

WSKG Arts is proud to welcome Tony Blazonczyk and his New Phaze band back to the Let’s Polka stage for another half hour of toe-tapping fun! Our studio audience and dancers were captivated by their energy and good natured charm which shines through during this episode. Tony Blazonczyk’s New Phaze have recorded 6 CD’s on the New Phaze label and received Best Single of the Year in 2012 by The International Polka Association for the song “For The Love of the Music”. That song kicks off an eclectic set that also includes the “Girls, Girls, Girls Polka” and the “My Heart Waltz”. Tony is joined on-stage by a crack set of polka music veterans including John ‘Fu’ Furmaniak (accordion), Tim Jagodzinski (concertina), Melvin Rzeszutko (drums), CJ Lackowski (trumpet & vocals), and Dan Levdanski (trumpet).

Tony Blazonczyk's New Phaze, Show One

WSKG is proud to welcome Tony Blazonczyk’s New Phaze to the Let’s Polka stage! Tony and the band traveled all the way from Chicago to entertain the live studio audience and dancers with a half hour of polka fun. New Phaze began its journey in the fall of 2005. After several attempts to get a band started, Tony Blazonczyk finally succeded in putting the right combination of musicians together to form what is now New Phaze. The band has expanded it’s following over the years touring the USA & Canada.

WSKG is proud to have The Maestro’s Men take the Let’s Polka stage for a brand new episode on Saturday, January 16th at 6:30pm. The Maestro’s Men have been performing together since 1996. The Piatkowski Brothers, Show Three

Let’s Polka welcomes back The Piatkowski Brothers for another half hour of polka fun! This dynamic band from the Syracuse area have been playing polkas for close to thirty years and the live studio audience was captivated by their showmanship. Performances include “Rosie From Jersey”, “We Left Our Wives At Home” and “Take My Hand Forever”. Bill Flynn hosts and interviews bassist Mark Trzpacz, who talks about his time with the great polka band, The Dynatones. Tony's Polka Band, Show Three

WSKG welcomes Tony’s Polka Band back to the Let’s Polka stage for another half hour of toe-tapping excitement! Coming from the Albany area, Tony and his band have been entertaining audiences for well over ten years, and their showmanship is on full display during this episode. Featuring up-tempo numbers such as the “Polka Hoe Down” and the classic “Clarinet Polka”, as well as tender waltzes like “In My Eyes You Are Beautiful”, this half-hour has something for every polka fan. Polka Brothers, Show Two

WSKG’s locally produced Let’s Polka welcomes back The Polka Brothers. These four “brothers” (actually good friends who first started playing music together in college) from New York City bring their unique brand of polka music to the stage. The live studio audience was enthralled with this group’s charm, high quality musicianship and a very unique setlist that has something for every polka fan. Ranging from classic polka instrumentals to original Polka Brothers compositions to off the wall covers (especially for Star Wars and Mario Brothers fans), this half hour will be sure to get your hands a-clapping! Bill Flynn hosts and conducts an interview with the brothers where they discuss what it is like to play polka music in New York City.

The Piatkowski Brothers, Show Two

The Piatkowski Brothers return to the Let’s Polka stage for another half hour of toe-tapping fun. The members of this band (Al Piatkowski-accordion, Rob Piatkowski-trumpet, Mark Trzepacz-bass guitar, and Jason Flynn-drums) have been playing together for close to thirty years and the studio audience enjoyed every minute of their performance. This set is highlighted by the debut of a new band member in saxophonist Zachary Piatkowski, who joins his father on-stage for the first time ever. Polka Quads, Show Three

For the third time this season, The Polka Quads take the Let’s Polka stage. John Salov, Mark Dubrovec and Vinny Horoschock traveled from Steelton, Pennsylvania to perform their Slovenian style of polka for a live studio audience and the results are eclectic.
