Broome County District Attorney Steven Cornwell will charge no one in an alleged strip search of students at a Binghamton school earlier this year.
Binghamton City School District’s superintendent was dismissed last March. There have been a couple of interim superintendents since then, but now the district is searching for a more permanent leader. David Hawley is the president of the Binghamton School Board. He spoke with WSKG’s Sarah Gager about the search, which he says will conclude with a selection in the Spring. Interview highlights:
What is the new superintendent stepping into?
The Binghamton City School District’s new MacArthur Elementary building is set to open Monday. The school was destroyed by a flood in 2011. The new building has a huge open lobby with soaring ceilings. Its three classroom wings are color-coded: yellow, red and green. There’s a gym and a new library.
