The First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville, NY again hosts the annual Labor Day weekend concerts by the Millenium Strings, musicians from the Magic Mountain Music Farm. We hear from the founder, Burton Kaplan, violinist Marvin Suson, and hard-working pianist Cullan Bryant.
Burton Kaplan’s Magic Mountain Music Farm of Morris, NY presents the 25th anniversary of Labor Day weekend concerts at the First Presbyterian Church on Rt. 51 in Gilbertsville. The two free concerts feature music by Beethoven, Brahms, Gliere, Mozart, Prokofiev, Schubert, and Strauss. Cellist Adele O’Dwyer traveled all the way from Ireland for the third time and violinist Marvin Suson from Milwaukee for the nineteenth time to study with Burton Kaplan. They talk about the concert and what brings them back year after year.
The Magic Mountain Music Farm , just outside of Morris, NY, presents two free concerts on Friday and Saturday, September 2 and 3. This is the twenty-fourth year of these concerts, as professional musicians from all over the United States spend two weeks studying with Burton Kaplan. Guests Erika Atchley and Marvin Suson, both violinists, talk about why they return year after year to “recharge” their musical batteries in a supportive atmosphere, and take new skills back to their performing and teaching positions. The two concerts have completely different programs, and are presented in the beautiful acoustics of the First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville at 7:30pm both nights. http://www.wskg.org/audio/magic.mp3
