“No 18 year old can walk in on their birthday, and walk out again with an AR-15. Those days are over.”
Voters increasingly disapprove of how the governor is handling a number of issues like crime and the economy.
When you look at just the opinions of parents who have children in kindergarten through high school, they are more closely divided.
According to the Siena poll, three in 10 New Yorkers think it’s very likely that the U.S. will remain the world’s oldest continuing democracy.
A majority of Republicans, independents, Latinos, white voters and men feel minority New Yorkers do have the same opportunities.
The poll finds that 36% of registered Democrats back Hochul, who is seeking election to the job she ascended to after Cuomo resigned in disgrace in August.
“This is something that’s with us every single day. It affects our relationships, it affects our behavior, and it will continue to for quite some time.”
“They’re worried about inflation, they’re worried about jobs, they’re worried about all sorts of things. world affairs.”
More New Yorkers think the embattled governor should hang on than think he should resign.
60% approve the Democrat’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and about half (51%) do not believe Cuomo should resign.
About 40% of the CEOs surveyed believe economic conditions in upstate NY will improve this year.
“The voters are not necessarily, at the moment, following the lead of the elected officials.”
“New York, and America have more to do in terms of educating the people about the vaccine and doing a campaign to encourage New Yorkers and Americans to get the vaccine.”
Over three-quarters of Latinos and 90% of Black New Yorkers say that people of color experience discrimination in New York state.
“The president has been saying that ‘he won, he won, he won,’ and ‘fraud, fraud, fraud. And a lot of people who support this president, agree with him.”
“Today we find that 59% of New Yorkers, that’s up from 54% two years ago, are touched by the opioid epidemic.”
54% of Black respondents supported defunding police departments, compared to 24% of white respondents.
The poll finds Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 66% approval rating is still among the highest during his 9 years in office.
The numbers are the highest since January 2013, just before Cuomo championed a strict gun control law after the Sandy Hook, Connecticut school shooting.
If the latest poll from Siena College is any indication, New Yorkers are feeling a bit better about their personal finances than they did a year ago.
A survey by Siena College finds that two-thirds, 65% of New Yorkers, say there’s a wider political divide than they’ve seen in their lifetimes, and it’s effecting the way they relate to others.
Respondents overwhelmingly back getting rid of the religious exemption for vaccinations, in the wake of a measles epidemic in New York due to unvaccinated children. They also back amending the state’s constitution to guarantee equal rights.
“Two thirds, 67 percent say it was bad for the state. It’s across the board. 64 percent of city voters, 69 percent of downstate suburban voters.”
One day after New York voters gave Governor Cuomo his lowest favorability rating, voters polled by Siena College are giving Cuomo’s plans to bring Amazon to New York a big thumbs up.
