Martin has served as clerk for the Broome County Legislature for the past 14 years. Former Binghamton Mayor Rich David, a Republican, announced his candidacy for county clerk last month. Democrat Nick Libous also recently filed to enter the race.

David, a Republican, served as mayor of Binghamton for two terms until 2021, when he was term-limited. Democrat Nick Libous, son of the late Republican New York State Senator Thomas Libous, has also filed to run for the position.
