Conklin residents say they are shocked one of their own is the suspect of the shooting in Buffalo. But some Black residents in nearby Binghamton are less surprised.

Buffalo residents gathered outside Tops Saturday night, more than six hours after an 18-year-old white male shot 13 mostly Black victims, killing 10, in what authorities have called a hate crime.

A lone gunman, said by witnesses to be heavily armed, entered a Tops Supermarket in Buffalo Saturday and opened fire.

One person was shot and another stabbed at McKinley High School in Buffalo late Wednesday afternoon.
