But county residents have until September 11 to petition for a referendum on the November ballot, if they want to put the pay increase to a vote.

Term limits are now on the November ballot for Chemung County voters. The county legislature passed resolutions in May and June to bring the matter to the public to decide "yes" or "no" at the polls.
