Chemung County has been at the epicenter of a heated controversy that has made national headlines, after the seizure of two wild animals living in a home in Pine City.

The press conference Monday was held at the Hill Top Inn overlooking City of Elmira and the Chemung River and primarily centered around relief for restaurants in the most recent COVID bill.

A Buffalo lawyer who represents the church claimed it was following county guidelines, but that it can be difficult to keep track of everyone.

"Certainly, we are working very hard behind the scenes to make sure we can get people in contact with doctors if they need it and things like that, if they need it."

County Executive Chris Moss is pushing for more tests in Chemung, which has no confirmed cases.

"The cost of this lawsuit, both in terms of money and time spent, is extremely unfortunate."

It claims the legislature didn’t have the right to amend the county charter to give itself clearer authority over the legislative attorney.

Code violations at Elmira’s First Arena aren’t a problem anymore, but two of the main people involved are frustrated.
