The city of Corning has a brand new 60,000-square-foot space for artists who specialize in glass.

During a special meeting of the Corning-Painted Post school board on Wednesday, the district approved payments for three separate settlements with survivors of alleged child sexual abuse and sexual assault dating back five decades.

The document identifies nine policy areas with a focus on infrastructure issues like housing, broadband, transportation and climate strategies.

The Steuben County Legislature has a female chair for the first time in its 40-year history. Kelly Fitzpatrick, a Republican who represents the town of Bath, was elected chair at the start of the 2024 legislative session on Tuesday.

“They know the people in the church, and when you pick a location like that, it helps put more people at ease.”

A separate bill for $160 billion links state, local and tribal aid to an agreement on liability provisions.

The deaths occurred between Sept. 30 and Oct. 17.

"My concern is that a lot of people who are not citizens might have been spooked by the back and forth and it is going to be very difficult for people to trust that they will not be asked (a citizenship) question."
