The Green Light Law in New York went into effect this week. Some county clerks criticize the changes to allowable proofs of identity.

"Traffic debt can become thousands of dollars very easily, because one traffic stop can lead to multiple tickets. And each ticket can lead to, not only the underlining fine, and also fees, and then additional fees to reinstate the license.”

The DMV has a mobile office in the Center of Progress Building.

Some county clerks who are opposed to the law are pressing forward on a federal lawsuit.

"I would rather they had a license and had insurance, you know because, if say you get into an accident and you know, the other person is driving illegally and they don't have insurance, you know it makes that whole thing more difficult."
