More than 6,000 people—or 10% of the population in Bradford County, Pennsylvania live in a food-insecure household, according to 2021 data from Feeding America. Child Hunger Outreach Partners is working to close the hunger gap for PA residents of all ages.

The city will spend $75,000 in federal COVID-19 relief money to help local food pantries buy new refrigerators and freezers, amid an increase in demand for food and meals in the community.

Broome County's food pantries say they're struggling to meet the increasingly high demand for food, which they say is a result of high prices and a reduction in benefits.

Around the end of March last year, CHOW served 140 households a week. At the end of May this year, 10 to 15 households received deliveries.

According to Feeding America, 50 million people nationally may experience food insecurity because of COVID-19.

“Over 85 families are depending on this food for their Christmas dinners, so we are very concerned about being able to get the plowing done."

As need has increased, donations have decreased.

There's also home-delivery where food pantries have closed.
