Former New York state education commissioner and U.S. education secretary, John King, has been tapped to be the next SUNY chancellor.

Rep. Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor who has made crime an issue in his campaign, saw gun violence hit close to home on Sunday when a shooting left two people injured in his front yard.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said the storm affected 11 counties, from the Southern Tier to the North Country.

The funding comes after flooding caused by Tropical Storm Fred damaged hundreds of homes in August.

The statewide mask mandate will end Thursday.

Troutman is the second Black woman to serve on the high court.

“The big change for New Yorkers is that if you test positive, you should no longer expect a call from your health department."

The governor gave updates on the current mask mandate, hospital capacity and testing, in the midst of a surge in COVID-19 cases across the state.
