Property developers are planning to build a $24 million apartment complex and commercial space across from Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton.

The proposal would prohibit landlords from renting to groups of four or more students in areas zoned as single-family and two-family residential.

The city would likely demolish the plaza and the adjoining property area before taking public input on a plan to redevelop the land moving forward.

The City of Binghamton is beginning the process of restoring and potentially moving its historic Ross Park carousel, a fixture of the park and zoo for over a century.

The renovations include upgrades to locker rooms, dining areas and training facilities as dictated by Major League Baseball standards.

Binghamton city officials say they plan to address water ponding on the new Recreation Park tennis courts later this year.

"We're not disparaging, we're not throwing anybody under the bus, but I think we can do a little bit better."

City of Binghamton officials have been struggling to properly handle public records requests in recent months, sometimes outside the scope of state laws.

The transition comes as several city departments have vacancies or are currently led by individuals looking to retire in the near future.
