State Sen. Lea Webb announced her campaign for reelection in Ithaca this past weekend. The state senator highlighted her work on women's issues and legislation that directly impacts Tompkins County.

Senator-elect Lea Webb emerged as the 10th Democrat opposed to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s pick to lead the New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court.

Troutman is the second Black woman to serve on the high court.

David is running for the seat currently held by Fred Akshar, who is not seeking reelection.

“Today we are going to be righting that wrong,” Gounardes said. “To put a stop to the license to harass that elected officials and judges have exercised in New York for far too long.”
