Employers and green energy groups came together to try and fill vacancies in clean energy jobs in the Southern Tier. The inaugural Greater Binghamton Clean Energy Careers Summit is just the beginning of what organizers hope will be a major transition.

They say it will be important to find ways for solar farms to store and control how much energy they release to the grid.

The owners want to convert it into a 100 megawatt data center. Their proposal includes a seventy-five acre solar farm, and they will apply to the state for a 125 megawatt renewable energy allocation.
