Households must report the loss to their county Department of Social Services within 10 days of losing power.

“There is a dry ice shortage, so we're fighting through that as well,” Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said. “We're doing everything we can to get extra dry ice.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul said the storm affected 11 counties, from the Southern Tier to the North Country.

Broome County is in a State of Emergency, as an April storm has dropped over a foot of snow and left thousands without power.

“Over 85 families are depending on this food for their Christmas dinners, so we are very concerned about being able to get the plowing done."

"They’re leaving a place they consider to be their home and all of their belongings are in their home but their homes aren’t as secure as our homes are," said Deb Wilke.
