'The Adventures of Clean Guy and Trash' Wins Honor in Youth Writers Contest

Keyahn Sethi won 1st place in the Fourth Grade category in the 2016 WSKG Youth Writers Contest. He is 9 years old and in fourth grade at The Crescent Academy in Johnson City, NY. A prankster who loves to write funny stories, Keyahn's ultimate passion is sports.  He's on the travel hockey team, the lacrosse team and also takes Gymnastics and Ninja classes.  He loves the outdoors and you can usually find him outside with his sisters biking, hiking by the river, or slacklining. His other interests include history, politics, travelling, reading, and Odyssey of the Mind.  His favorite television channels include the History Channel and anything sports including the current Stanley Cup Finals.  He's also taken a great interest in the Presidential race and wishes he could vote this November.  Over the past year, he's become a Potterhead and enjoys all things Harry Potter with his big sister, Kynzee, and little sister, Inaaya.  We appreciate that he took a few minutes to answer our questions:

What is your story about?  Can you summarize it in just a sentence or two? My story is about a superhero named Clean Guy and a villain named Trash who tries to take over Fresh Lake City.  Trash is defeated using 3 Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle. How did you come up with the story ideas that depict the moral? I thought of the story just before Earth Day.I also attended a Bernie Sanders rally and learned about fracking and how it hurts the Earth.   I wanted to write about why it's important to save the Earth and teach people about the 3 Rs. Are you working on any additional stories right now?   No.  It's too nice outside and the Stanley Cup Finals are on! Thank you for sharing this story with WSKG! How did you hear about the Contest? I heard about the Story Contest from my Mummy when I was in First Grade. Which part did you enjoy most -- writing the story or making drawings/collage that accompanied the plot? I enjoy writing the stories because I like to tell funny stories that make people laugh.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?   I hope to put all my winning stories and my sister's winning stories in a book one day.
