Republican Rich David and Democrat Lea Webb faced off in a debate hosted by WSKG Thursday in the race for New York's 52nd state Senate district. The new 52nd District covers all of Tompkins and Cortland counties as well as the western half of Broome County, including the City of Binghamton and Village of Endicott.
David, who is also on the Conservative Party line, served two terms as mayor of Binghamton. Prior to that, David worked in the mayor’s office under former Mayor Richard Bucci in the early 2000s.
Webb, who is also on the Working Families Party line, served on Binghamton City Council for two terms. Prior to that, she worked as a community organizer. She now works at Binghamton University as a diversity education coordinator.
Early voting begins October 29 and Election Day is November 8.
